Rose Noire - A TJ-07 Inverted ATX facelift Kozato Oct 29th, 11, 10:25 AM #1

Previously, this project was called: Blacksquare Redesign.

Now with new hardware, I decided to give it a facelift.

Warning:

This maybe a MurderMod inspired build, but unfortunately, the build is done by a lazy guy who's serving his 2 years conscription in the army for his nation, which means he doesn't have a lot of time. You will see me cut lots of corners, especially since I am rushing to get my pc up and running within a weekend. I do not have a photo studio in my home, nor do I have a workshop; therefore the photos will be shot in the living room of my own home, with mess all over the place and such. In essence, this build DO NOT HAVE the elegance that most of the other MurderMod or MurderMod inspired builds have. But still, i will try my best to make this build as beautiful as possible. Please enjoy and thanks for the time.

I would like to give my thanks to:

To Ken for offering me many liquid components at an affordable price and help all these years.

To Gary for all the little projects that he have done for me over the years

For their great service and liquid cooling components

To Alexis for his excellent acrylic manufacturing expertise at a VERY VERY reasonable price

Now, on to the project log:

A facelift means new hardware:

CPU: i7-2600K (previously a Core 2 Quad Q9550)
Motherboard: Asrock Extreme 7 Gen3 (Previously an Asus Striker II Formula)
GPU: MSI GTX 570 (Previously a Powercolor 4870x2)
Rams: Corsair Vengeance Low Profile Low Voltage White (Previously Team Xtreem Dark)
SSD: Crucial M4 128GB Rev.009

Liquid Cooling components:

Radiators: Aquacomputer Airplex Revolution 420/360 & EK Coolstream 140mm
CPU block: EK Supreme LT Nickel+Acetal
GPU block: EK FC-580GTX Nickel+Plexi with EK FC-580GTX backplate Nickel
Pump: Swiftech MCP35X
Reservoir: Iandh Stealth tube reservoir

More to follow soon.

Index

1. Dismantling the block
2. EK FC-580GTX
3. Mounting of hardwares
4. Out with old, in with the new

With you watching this thread it will be a little stressful! This work log is a little short since I didn't shoot every single process of the build and also most of the major works were already done in the previous worklog.

Dismantling the loop Kozato Oct 30th, 11, 11:55 AM #8
I did some work on Monday actually. Setting up the loop for a shakedown of the hardware and doing some tweaking.

At last, I decided that I have finished the shakedown and it's time to tear the pc apart to do the refinement process.

EK FC-580GTX Kozato Oct 30th, 11, 12:01 PM #9
When I saw my GPU block I was horrified!

It looked like it was corroding and I only got it last weekend after a 6 week wait.

With some advice from XS, the bros here and EK support themselves, I decided to take the block apart and give it a clean up, with the help of....METASOL!

As you can see in this photo, there was this black stain that I couldn't clean off beside the small o-ring.

With the block cleaned up, I started putting it back together and mount it on my GTX 570.

Then along came the EK FC-580GTX Nickel backplate asking, "Hey! Can I join in the fun?"

And that's it for the block.

Mounting of hardwares Kozato Oct 30th, 11, 06:55 PM #13

Asrock Extreme 7 Gen 3. Ain't she such a beauty?

I chose to have the pump's outlet hard mounted to the midplate using a male to male fitting and a bitspower fillport fitting. This should help me save some space and worry less about the potential overheating of the pump.

Motherboard, CPU, CPU block and rams installed. I just love how the white pair of Vengeances match the Extreme 7 Motherboard.

This is how I will connect the reservoir to the pump's inlet. I always believe in having the reservoir just before the pump to prevent the pump from running dry.

Time to throw out the old mid plate. I drilled too many holes on it and it's really unpleasant looking.

With the old one gone, the new has to take over. The new mid plate, thanks to Alexis from Plixo.

There's also new backplate covers and a new top window, but I will show them later.

Alexis from Plixo has amazing work. I got 2 pieces for the mid plate, 2 pieces for the back plate and a new top window with the black pieces in Matt black for only S$55! Materials included! Furthermore the cutting and engraving process was really quick. The whole process took only 30mins! If you wanna do some plastic manufacturing you should try going to Plixo.
