Project: Overhauled Miracle Nashaz Sep 21st, 07, 09:55 PM #1

Ok... 1stly, as u might all be wondering y my project is named as such.. ill get to that soon.. ;D...

Oook... down to the project.. i got this pc from one of my friends who wanted to revamp his rig... mainly used it for professional work such as video editing, ect.. ocaasionaly games and such... its almost 2yrs old... amd 3500+ socket 939, 1gb ddr 400 7800gtx, dual 74gb raptors stripe... oh btw, did i mention that his budget for bling was $250?... XD

so here it is... (pls excuse me for the occasional blurry pics)

quite a beauty eh?... (more like messed up bitch wahahaha... jk ^^)
anyway... the reason y i named this project as such is because the pc has been running for 2 years... with this...

the damn ass who fixed up this pc for him back at the shop when he bought it didn know that he was supposed to remove the protective sticker... my friend complained that his pc was giving overheating msgs but i thought mabe fan spoil or the hsf clogged up with dust or somehting.. but this... woah.. im surprised the pc lasted so long with that bad contact with such bad ventilation in his case...

anyway... i got him a new hsf before i even saw the pc, so no use keeping it... so i swapped his cm hsf with the scythe andy samurai master... but not before doing some quick simple mods... ^^

I added some thermal paste to create better contact between the base plate, heatpipes and bottem half of the heatsink as well as mounted a 40mm fan to cool the btm half of the hsf...

Also, the nb hsf was totally screwed... the internal sleeve probabally came apart and now it no longer works.. btw, the nb got so hot initially tat i burned myself... literally... lol...

ok... so i guess you all probabally are wondering how the andy performed vs the cm cooler and what difference the mods made... right?.. hahaha.. ok.. stock clocks of the cpu was 2.2ghz at 1.45v and oced settings was 2.6ghz at 1.5v..

ambient temp was 25 all the way, summary and ss of the tests are as below... overclocked tdp was about 90-100w... i believe the deltas between the cm, andy and modded andy will increase as the tdp scale increases.. (edit: i have to repost the ss shots... resolution was too crappy)

Well.. a 3c drop for such low tdp is not bad... drop would probabally have been more if i had thicker tp... so that i can apply all over the heatpipes...

u mean the fan just below the dvd drives or in front of the hdd?... in front one is 80mm... held by screws... below dvd drives is 92mm held by cable ties...
