[Project] Everyday gaming [Advice needed] LordReisor Oct 15th, 08, 11:14 PM #1 (permalink)
The following is my planned build before i go sls to get them in Nov.

CPU: Intel C2D E8400

MB: Asus P5Q Pro

PSU: AeroCool HorsePower 750W

KeyBoard & Mouse: Razer Lycosa, Lachesis

HDD:WD VelociRaptor 150Gb

RAM: Recommend please. [Kingston/OCZ/Corsair?] 2X2Gb Kits

GPU: Leadtek HD 4850 1Gb OR Palit 9800GTX+ OR [Recommend please]

Optical Drive: Asus DVD RW 20X

OS: XP Professional

UPS: Powertree 1250V

Case: Antec 900 (already have)

Total estimated budget: SGD 2k - 2.5k

Please advise if you think a certain item should be changed that can let it work better (i.e. better performance in that price range.)
Need help in GPU and RAM area.

A question i'ld like to clarify is, which is better?
2X1Gb of good Gaming RAM or 2X2Gb of some average RAM?
Sometimes i notice the price of both are nearly the same, are the performance-wise equal as well?

Also, please tell me what else i need to have inside a PC.. 1st time DIYer.. Eg. Fans, heatsink etc.. total noob in those.

Personally i fix a computer for my friend, his configuration is almost the same except for the following.I urge you to use Corsair 2X2GB kit,it's overclockable somemore. Also for GPU,i would seriously recommend you to get 4870 from powercolor. This brand is well-known for making ATI-based graphics card,i intend to get one after i save up
Power supply get it from Corsair too,get the 750W or whichever you desire.I am using one now.
One more thing to add, since 4850 is quite cheap now,why don't you get 2 4850 to crossfire.reply me dude
