FYI, this is a trial for NPP - Neighbourhood Police Posts. These posts only operate up to 10PM daily and usually manned by only 1 officer. NPC - Neighbourhood Police Centres open 24/7 and manned by more than 1 officers.
The idea of this competition is to make the NPP operate 24/7, but unmanned. People will go in to lodge reports on their own - a kind to their online report lodging system www.spf.gov.sg/epc
Thus the "safe room" concept
I don't know about you guys but I have lodged police reports for lost items before and I did it online. I hate going to the post because I have to Queue. Can't blame the counter officers being slow because sometimes it is because of the person in front of me have got a lot to say to the officers, thus slowing down the Queue movement.
I dont think it will be very useful unless this results in the post open 24/7 and victims can lock the safe room themselves.
But i dont think they will see much use...how often do you see someone getting chased...in SG, you can easily live till 50 or 60 years old without ever seeing someone getting chased...
Probably much better to increase the size of the police force. SPF is very understaffed...

I did submit my design, but due to confidentiality, I can only answer limited to the questions posted here.
To begin with, yes, the posts will become 24/7 instead of 12PM to 10PM.
No, I know you are just joking but well, you cannot chit chat inside. At least for my design if it gets selected. It's a single entry door. Once closed it cannot be opened from outside and only person inside can open it. Once a person enter, they will get an access to call for police from the room.
Remember the old NPP with the emergency call button outside? That's the one I am proposing back.
What happen if a person from outside close the door and no one was inside the room ?
Can 2 person enter the room togather ?
It's a sensor-switch based system. If no movement inside and the door is shut, it won't lock. Further details of how it works I can't reveal until lets' say they have accepted my proposal and published it themselves.
