Here it is: Asus P5K-SE Vdroop Mod Felipe_Zanon Nov 16th, 07, 01:24 PM 1 links from elsewhere to this Post. Click to view. #1 (permalink)
Hello all!

Im glad to announce that i developed a fix for the Vdroop on P5K-SE motherboard. I´m an electrical engineer and i work with electronic design. In the past few days i have analysed the VRM of P5K-SE, and i understood how the PWM controler works and how we can adjust the Vdroop. The image attached shows everything. There is another image attached, where you can see how i did the mod on my motherboard.

Thank you all, and enjoy this fix!

Felipe.

Just a positive feedback: another users have done the mod and it really works. With the pencil you cant go too far, since the original resistor is "low" (3,6K), but at least you can reduce Vdroop by 50% without soldering. If you want more you will need to solder some resistor in parallel, as i did.

Bye!

1200 ohms resistor is optimal, excellent, thanks.

Have you soldered the resistor, like i did? By the way, my result with 1,2K in parallel is excellent. Theoretically it reduces the Vdroop 4 times.

The original value of Rfb (3,6K) is making this mod less "popular", since its impossible to get a low resistance with the pencil. Users that did the pencil mod got just average results. For best results it is needed another solution, like soldering the resistor.

Anybody knows another way to lower that resistor from 3,6K to around 1K without soldering? It would help people that do not have soldering abillities.

Thanks!

Could you just short it using a silver contact pen? Are there any negative implications if the resistance is much lower tha 1200ohms

really good work man, it works perfectly.. only 0.004V droop!!
the soldering part wasn't easy because i used a simple soldering iron, and considering the size of the motherboard's resistors it's best to get a laboratory soldering station or something like that.

anyway..how did you get to this solution? i'm really curious!
