Cherry Corp is a well-known German company which have been and making keyboard since 1973. They are well-known in making industrial-standard keyboard which can last even under the harsh-daily usage of point of sales systems. Now let me introduce to you the G80-3000.
Despite all these years, Cherry keep the iconic classic-looks of their keyboard. Cherry keyboard are extremely light which makes it easy to transport it if necessary. I know what you are thinking, "if the keyboard is light, will it shift when I'm using it?"
Well, the answer is no, Cherry have use good quality rubber pads to prevent the keyboard from moving.
What makes this keyboard so special? Under each switch lies a mechanical switch which Cherry have developed with their 40 over years of expertise. Each switch it rated to last at least 20 million strokes. Now imagine "Will you ever use a single key over 20 million times?"
Next up, we will talk about is the keycaps. In order to make the keyboard last through the harsh-usage of point of sales, Cherry Corp have made their keycaps very thick and of industrial-grade thermoplastics; Polyoxymethylene (POM) for the black keycaps and Polybutylene (PBT) for the white keycaps.
In depth of POM, it has high abrasion resistance, low coefficient of friction, high heat resistance, good electrical and dielectric properties and low water absorption. The most common forms of POM are zippers and motorcycle sliders.
In depth of PBT, it is resistant to solvents, mechanically strong and high heat resistance. The most common forms of PBT are light bulb housing and computer fans.
In case you are curious what the keyboard casing it made of after all this keycap talk, it's made of Acrylonitrile butadiene Styrene (ABS). ABS is yet another thermoplastic. What is ABS? and How good is it? One word "LEGO". LEGO are all made from ABS. How are you LEGO lasting?
Lastly for enthusiast, since Cherry is not plate-mounted like most mechanical keyboards, it have the ability to swap the switch type without the need of soldering. It is a very simple procedure; All you need is a pair of angled tweezers and a small flat-head screwdriver.
