Shure E4C equivalent IEM (earphones) - SoundMagic PL30 nakshire Oct 3rd, 08, 07:18 PM #1 (permalink)
Yo people in VR garage,

Introducing you guys a very solid set of earphones, SoundMagic PL30.

I got this earphones after searching high and low for a replacement set for my spoilt UE 3 Pro. Didn't want to go for an exchange because UE earphones don't really fit into my ear (usually does not fit in well to people's ears).

It states that the product is comparable to Shure E4C

So I grabbed one from their website and tested it out. Here it goes!

Unboxing in progress:

You have to slide open the box to open. Instruction manual is seen right on top.

Here it goes, warranty card from them. Its a 1 year warranty!

11 pairs of earbuds to cater for all different types of earholes.
A carrying pouch for your mp3
A cable winder for your earphones!!!

What you can see when you take everything out from the box!!

Those who wants to buy this earphones
For people who wants to buy this powerful IEM, feel free to msg me here, or bump my thread up telling me you need it. (I will know it). My PDA will tell me.

Retail Price for the set : 40USD + 10USD shipping fee
I'm selling it at $42USD only.
After conversion is $60SGD (1.42sgd=1usd)

P.S. People seldom offer the exact warranty provided from Soundmagic like I do. So do not ask me for cheaper prices. You will have to pay for what you need!

Here it goes, more information to show u guys!

They gone through RoHs verification... very trustable set of IEMs. The printing is silverish one... super nice lor~

There is a cable clip for you to clip onto your shirt. the clip can be adjusted to suit your level to clip your phones~

Super hardy pouch. Comes with a lot of compartments inside. but it cannot stay open for me to shoot... so you have to buy it yourself to see... haha

This is how the actual earphones look like.

Blue is left, red is right. Wires go around your ears. There is an adjustable knob to adjust your bass. If you want lesser bass, just turn it the other way round. If you want extra bass, turn it in!

First sight of it makes me puke. Had a hard time finding through the pictures how to put inside. But these are just superficial. Its the sound i'm going for.

I put my mp3 to normal EQ, turned the knob to bass off. The music sounded crisp and clear. No bass at all. But you can hear every single detail.

Drive-in for about 12 hrs, pick it up again and tested it. The mids and the highs are getting better. Some stuff can now be heard through this phones (previously can be heard from UE also, but not on the normal earphones). kudos for that!

I burnt it for another 12 hrs, and then listened while on the way to school. Sound stage was perfect. You feel the instruments playing beside you like what you can hear in a studio. (maybe i set my EQ to "studio", thats why). But all is wonderful. Bass knob is turned towards the "bass" mode, and the sound was not as loose as what you hear from the Sennheisers... definitely much better than that.

Accidentally left my mp3 on for the rest of the day. This time round when I picked it up and listen while on the back home, it took me a while to realize that this is just another $70 earphones!!

It was simply awesome. The sound has already far exceeded my expectation I set for my UEs already. The bass is cool, crisp and clear mids and highs. The sound is as if it came from a double driver phones. Simply awesome.

I'm going to burn in another few more hours to let you guys see the review. Up till now, the phones are out-performing my expectations. If it is really comparable to E4Cs, I'd really strongly believe that!

For that price? Not meaing to be a wet blanket bro but i'm still a little skeptical it can outperform $400 earphones haha.

@tosh89: hahaha, still waiting for your answer as to whether to buy or not!

@BlahZ: from what i read online, they sound similar and may come from the same OEM factory. Need more research on it, but it cannot be definite... just like Creative EP-630 and Sennheiser CX-300, people say they have the same build and drivers, which no one really knows what the conclusion is. Whats most is that you like the earphones best.

@valerievendetta: you can come and test the earphones yourself if you are really keen about it. This set is more for people to see and look, and purchase if they want to. Not earning from this one, but more for sharing some good phones out there in the market! as to whether it will really outperform a $400 earphones, u must really test it yourself. For me, I tested on UE3 and UE5, in the end i went with 3 because of some special features they have... now i go for soundmagic is because they have some outstanding features too. Price doesn't matter, whats most is your comfort for music~
