Gigabyte X58 UD3R: Budget mobo that is not budget in OC longsiew Jan 15th, 09, 07:33 PM #1

Testbed:

CPU: i7 920
mobo; Gigabyte X58 UD3R (Bios F4b)
Memory: OCZ Reaper Series PC3 15000 2gb x 3 kit
GPU: nvidia GTX295
HDD: SATA II Samsung 500gb 7200rpm
PSU: Andyson M800 watt
OS: XP Pro Sp2 (No Vista, plz)

200mhz Bclk x 21(Turbo Mode enable) direct boot and load into OS for benching

Pls take note that this mobo only support CF and not SLI. This mobo only offering 4 memory slots like intel X58 Smackover. Overall, this mobo is running cooler thanks to its 2oz copper. One big con si that PCI-E slot for gpu is too close to each other. Some ATI gpu might not be able to run side by side for CF. So make sure you check before buying any ATI gpu for CF.

One more thing is that the CMOS jumper is just underneath the gpu if u have gpu as long as GTX295. This will block the CMOS jumper and u might not be able to clear the CMOS jumper using screw driver to short the pin. So in order to clear the CMOS u need to remove the gpu

Ok.. everything remain the same. Just tighten the primary timings to 7-7-7-20 and direct boot from bios for benching. Memset beta still report the capacity of memory wrongly. hope newer rev will solve the issue

Failed to run 3d mark 06...need more bios tweaking. Stay tune for more

This is prob. the best bang for the buck i7 mobo so far for users who are never going to SLI their rig.
