u're saying its no contact and not chipping right?
check to see the evap is screwed down tight and that the sides of the socket area doesn't rise the evap off the cpu. also., the ledge at the side of the socket is higher than the core so take note and don't get into "its" way.
best ything to do is to mount it on first, dismount it, check to see imprint of paste on base is good, then remount it back.

Be careful as well. Had the old VapoCE and chipped three Bartons with it last time as well.

There is a good thread in OCAU on how to mount the Vapos for SocketA chips, I'll try and dig it up for you. Very good and systematic method of mounting. Almost no way to crush/not get good contact with that.

No problems with chipping the cores but both had overheated on the same side of the CPU.

Would love to see that thread from OCAU!

Thanks a lot for the links!
Gonna try it as soon as I can get a cheap 2nd hand CPU!
Not gonna spend more than necessary on this setup... Already planning for a whole new A64 X2 rig...

No worries mate. Have had the vapoCE & PEs in the past, they were great in their time, a bit long in the tooth now, but still good fun! Cept for the core crushing part
