artifacts with 7600GT with mem at 870 ghost_one May 10th, 06, 06:33 PM #1

I can reach 725 on GPU but i can only reach 850 on the mem before it stars showing artefacts , i have a VF900 CU on it , it's the normal leadtek 7600GT
i tried giving more voltage to it as much as 2.14 and still no luck , artefacts are a sign that i can't go further or that it needs more voltage????( by artefacts i mean little dots even in normal operation, desktop )
and hom much can i go with the voltage on the mem ??

With ATITOOL's artifact checker in the background, raise the Vgddr3 bit by bit at the highest artifact-free memory clocks you can manage at stock Vgddr3.

Experiment until you hit artifacts at that frequency. You know you can't go over that.

if u find that pumping voltage to the mem hit the barrier of OCing the Mhz, u prolly would know that the mem chips are at its maximum operating frequency

take the timing of the chips, should be 2.5ns. so 8 chips total. finding the maximum frequency that the chip can go.

[ (8 chips / 2.5ns) x 1000 ] /4 = 800Mhz FreqMax

the memory of the standard 7600GT has a factory speed of 1714 Mhz thats 857 , i even get artifacts at that speed( few but still ) and id think it would go another 50 mhz without a ramsink on , and i got one
