I'm new to amd cpu's but am considering oc'ing a barton 2500+.

this may sound like a dumb question, but I'll ask anyway ...

what is the equivalent intel performance of a barton 2500+ in the base state?

and what is the equivalent for an oc'd 2500+ to say 2.2ghz???

any sites or docs that you can direct me to find the performance of intel vs amd chips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Not sure about the p4 equivelent-but for a 2600xp it is said to be equal to the old p4 2.58mhz. As for 2.2mhz amd is equal to the AMD 3200xp in speed.:jump4:

actually oc pentium is much moreeasy and they can even o/c more for the range
many of then can o/c more than 500mhz but in amd we often o/c that high
and for gaming sure intel is faster much much more faster coz the daxx high bandwithd
if for the daily application i think amd should have a lead

Amd is cheaper ... it performs better in functions operation mainly in terms of gaming ..

Intel performs better in 3D or designing tools.

You don't compare the two cpu just by comparing the frequency .. cause in some
applications .. the one with a lower frequency still may outperform that of higher...it has other factors

sometimes its just down to luck on if you will get a good cpu .. actuallie some Xp 1700+ is actuallie 2700+ that has been crippled cause the demand of 1700+ was higher back den .. if you can find treasures like that .. you have made your day
