Help. Acer Aspire 5583 need repair. sustrisk Jul 4th, 09, 02:01 AM #1 (permalink)
Hi! I hope you guys can help me here.

I've got a laptop, that can't power on sometimes.
For e.g, if i use the laptop for quite long (about 30 minutes) or more, then i shut down, and i try to power on again, it just won't. It will only power on again like half hour later, when it's slightly cooled.

the problem is the same with battery in or when plugged into AC. i bought a new power adapter. still the same. so dun think it's the adapter. tried different batteries also, no diff, so cannot be the batt.

Sent to acer, they say nothing wrong.

So, anybody has this problem before and can help me with this. really quite irritating when i have to wait to switch on my laptop.

Or can recommend a reliable laptop repair service anywhere. My laptop's an Acer Aspire 5583.

Help is greatly appreciated. thanks!!

quite an obvious cooling issue. how long have you had it for? dismantle it and remove the dust from fan

how much dust? sometimes they're stuck in the fins of the heatsink too. try finding an option to turn your notebook fan 100% all the time (try F2 go into bios before os load screen)

i scraped some dust off using cotton buds. not a lot of dust.

went into BIOS, but there's no option to control fan speed. nothing else is wrong i guess.

it's just that, it will not switch on after i use the laptop for too long. quite frustrating.

not intending to get a new laptop yet..so any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

thanks!
