just went KL recently, dint have time to buy tix at JB, so bought from www.ktm-tickets.blogspot.com pretty gd and fast service.

train ride was quite fun blanket + pillow + bedsheet suprisingly clean, just a bit low quality. they can improve on the toilet though.. should put some air fresheners in it. try to get lower bunk because its quite hard to climb up/down from the top bed if you're clumsy/not very agile.

Hello!

I just came back from KL. I found that it's actually possible to buy and reserve tickets online via the ktm website. https://intranet.ktmb.com.my/E-Ticket/login.asp

You have to register as user. There are two options available - Email reservation and Etickets. Email reservation means you reserve tickets, then pay and collect at JB train station. Etickets is to buy with credit or debit card.

I bought three tickets to KL Sentral. Website server a bit slow but don't panic it will transact then you can print. I took the 2nd class seats, on the Rakyat express very comfortable indeed. ;] 37RM each, you can even choose the seats that you want during Eticketing.

In one carriage, half the seats face the direction the train moves, the other half is opposite. I got 9A, B and C for my trip to KL and we were back facing, my mother didn't like it. We figured that SG to KL it's best to take 1-7 A, B, C or D. However, from KL to SG, it's best to take 8-12 A-D, cos we got 5A-C on the trip back and travelled backwards again.

it seems that there are no longer canteen carriages on the train, at least for the rakyat expresses I took. so the train stopped (For both my journeys) at Gemas for 15min so passengers could get food from the station canteen. So it would be good to pack food and drinks!

How are the sleeper bunks? Does the conductor poke his head in to check tickets very often? The conductor kept passing us and checking seats on our day train cos the turn over rate is quite high. The seat beside me had 3 passengers changing during the whole journey to KL. I don't fancy the idea of ppl opening the curtains and checking on me when I sleep. Weird.

2nd class sleepers are the crappiest.
first its bright, 2nd its noisy constant rattling by the tracks, 3rd ppl will walk back and forth your bunk, and lastly its annoying when people go in and out of the auto door.
i ended up just sitting around the cafeteria the whole trip and went to nap for 15 mins.
if you want use a ear plug and a blind fold to sleep.. if not don't waste your money on the beds.
