Bo Bae market. Bo Bae is a market famous for cheap garments and is located in central Bangkok. It’s not far from Hua Lom Pong, the city’s main railway station. The market located on Krung Kasem Road, east of Banglampoo.

Bo Bae is mainly a wholesale market, most products being sold by the dozen or more. It’s not really a tourist market but if you have a lot of bulk purchases to make you won’t find prices cheaper anywhere else in Bangkok. They sell in terms of dozens, the buyer searches for what they want and then the haggling on the price begins. If you are looking for single items, in specific sizes and colours and an attentive salesperson to help you with your choice, then Bo Bae is not the place to go.

For more info refer to http://bangkok.thailandtoday.com/index.shtml
its really useful.

I just came back from bangkok, stayed at amari watergate hotel. It's 5 stars, exterior is plain, but interior, wow, plush!

Pratunam means watergate, so the hotel is located right in the wholesale center. You can spend a whole day shopping there and still not cover everything, so I suggest spending more time and bring more empty luggages if your motive is shopping. Discounts in thailand is also outrageous. Was at isetan(never noticed shopping centre name, 5 min walk from hotel though), and discounts were going like 40% off original price! I bought a le cog sportif jacket at 850 baht, 40% off, which is $34 sing, where can you find that?!

Computer City is also not far away, 5 min walk from hotel too. Prices there are the same as in SG, so no point going unless you're looking for illegal dvds. Legal copies of games are about the same prices, so no point as well.

Weather was great, about 18 degrees, you can get by with tee shirts and jeans, and a jacket if you get cold easily. Only bad factor during the trip is the pollution in thailand. The sky was perpetually bluish-grey, and you never get to see the clouds, even at 23 floors above ground. Serious pollution there, unlike sunny singapore.

That concludes my 3 day stay there, hope you gained something from it. =)

I also just came back from Bangkok.

Hands down, Best shopping is in Chatuchak weekend market. Open from 7am to 6pm, Friday to Sunday. Get off at the Mo Chit BTS station.

$8 for a pair of well-cut jeans. 160Bht ($6.70) for 2 packs of cuttlefish snacks....etc etc

The ONLY requirement for Chatuchak market is everything is paid using cash only. And take 30% off the quoted price and negotiate from there. You can also arrange air frieght from one of the shops located there to air-freight back stuff. For furniture, use sea freight. I think it's around $250 per 20ft container. You have to check first.

If you get lost in that market, just go to the center clock tower. There's a map there. It's a good meeting point.
