Check in luggage with gassy can drink inetevo Sep 22nd, 09, 11:51 PM #1 (permalink)
Anyone know if we can check in luggage with gassy can drink (eg. beer) when taking flight?

From what I know, such compressed gas cannot be brought up to the plane.... true?

as far as i rem, compressed articles or aerosols, by right, arent allowed. but you might haf to run the risk of it exploding in mid flight and causing the crew to panic and think someone bought onboard a bomb.

as for beer, i really dunno! :p

On long haul flights, shampoos and conditioners can explode in the tolietries bag. So just imagine if its a can of gassy beer. Your whole luggage will be soaked in beer.

haha! I did that before...cos' I saw the small/cute canned drink (coke, pepsi, and so on) in Dubai, and just luv them, so could not resist the temptations but to take the risk.

Btw, ever bought back cokes in glass bottle as well.

It should be ok since it is not a restricted item. But better to ziplock it up in case the can bloats up.

I've carried cans and glass bottles of coke in my luggage before, no problem. I always wrapped them in glad wrap (cling film) first, then put them inside some plastic bags and then inside a small chiller bag. Last thing you want is one breaking and soaking the rest of your luggage contents.

put them in plastic bags, stuff it in between ur clothings or some newspaper, you can bring in those if you check in them but you can't hand-carry them into the plane. Glass bottles have no problem i bring in them many times.

I think beer and alcohol cannot. Because when you land at Changi they can charge you for trying to evade tax, especially if you exceed the limit for duty free.

Rupture is not due to lack of pressurisation in the cargo compartment. It is due to freezing

Can, do it but don't get caught. I think you will still get fine even if you are within legal limit, cuz you didn't declare it when you walk through customs. You need to display it for customs officers to see if you want to pass through legally.

They have a tendency to stop goods that require to declare. My relative passed through Woodlands checkpoint with a brand new pack of cigarettes from JB and was stopped. They took down his details and got him to pay the tax.

Probably they let you off the first time so you just pay the tax. And I think you might be better off buying the beer/alcohol from the supermarkets instead of going through the hassle of carrying it in your luggage and opening it up at Changi for declaration.
