939 or C2D? tw33nie Dec 1st, 06, 07:03 PM #1 (permalink)
I'm currently planning to upgrade my system as my 3500+ is bottle-necking my 8800GTX ....
but dunno should juz change the processor to a dual-core or change the whole system to a C2D setup...
looking at AMD's 4600+ socket 939 and Intel's E6600.
How much difference in performance will there be and is it worth it for a complete system change??

AMD Phenom II 920 3600MHz| GeCube 4890 1GB GDDR5 | DFI 790FXB-M2RSH | WD Green 1TB 32MB | Crucial Ballistix Tracers 2x2GB @ 1032Mhz 5-5-5-15 2T | Auzentech Xi-Fi Prelude | Z-5500 Digital | Thermaltake Toughpower 850W | Microsoft Sidewinder X6 | Logitech G5 | Dell 2707WFP |

now when is my kick ass graphics coming in!!??

er, heard tt even e6300 also bottleneck 8800gtx
8800gtx + e6300 stock, will bottleneck?

E6600 is better than fx 62

go for at least e6600

You won't be utilising your card to its full potential - you should upgrade.

You should ask yourself.
Does the bottleneck so serious that it worth the money to upgrade?

if u change to higher resolution then your cpu will be more bottlenecked. best way is change to e6600 and oc. there is a good read on this http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/11/...e_fastest_cpu/
