need recommendation for next spree... adiknaim Dec 14th, 07, 11:45 PM #1 (permalink)
k. my current specs are in my sig.

the problem is that my MB is a lenovo one. cannot OC well...

i would like to spend on some stuff over the next few months:
- A dual-core AM2/AM2+ CPU (i intend to spend less than $200, so shud i wait for the Phenoms? or will there be a price drop for the current X2s?)
- An AM2+ MB (maybe about $200? i intend to do soem OCing. wanna get an AM2+ board to be ready for the future, but i don tink i going into Phenoms for at least another year, unless its cheap...)
- HSF (around $60? will only get this once i settle my MB & CPU and start OCing)
- A good airflow & cheap casing ($70?)

isit possible? pls give me some comments... i tot of getting a good MB first, so i can OC my 3500+ whilst collecting money for an X2...

i'll be playing games such as COD4, MOHA, Battlefield and maybe NFSrostreet.. although i'm not an eye-candy freak, so i'll stick with my 8600gt...since its new..(2 weeks...)

also, sorry for the extremely low budget..me still student... thanks beforehand!!

If you are gonna overclock, why not get a Intel CPU? They overclock well and pair them with a good cooler, you are all set to go
ASUS P5K with Intel C2D E6600
Corsair Dominator PC-8500 2x1GB
XFX GeForce 8800GTS 320MB
WD Caviar 160GB 8MB
Sony AW-G170S & Samsung SH-S183A SATA DVD-Writer
Andyson Silent series G480 PSU
Lian-Li PC007B
Windows XP Pro SP3

For OC, it is not recommended u do it on a branded PC. The BIOSes on such PCs usually don't allow u to, or don't have that much options on doing it.

Also, do note that once u open up your case, warranty is usually voided.
