Intermittent mouse hangs DevastatioN Aug 12th, 12, 12:32 PM #1

Recently I just switched over to a new comp (bringing all my old gears along over), and few months later my Microsoft IME3.0 began to freeze and sometimes wouldn't even move despite having powered on. I did a reformat just to make sure it isn't the OS fault and still have it. Switched my mouse to G400 and still the same thing occurs.

Some things to note: both mouse never gave me such issue on my old comp. My G400 is still fairly new and there were no issues before moving over.

Could it be a motherboard problem? I'm using MSI P67A-G45 with bios firmware updated to the latest.

USB Wired mouse? Only the mouse cursor hang or whole PC HangUp?
Did you plug mouse USB connect to USB2.0 or USB3.0 port of computer? If plug onto USB3.0 port of computer, does it happens on USB2.0 port? If only happens on USB3.0 port of computer, may be your drivers issues.

No I connected them via USB2.0. Yes it's a wired mouse. Mouse cursor hangs.
I tried my G400 on a laptop and it works perfectly fine after heavy hours of usage (the same way I use on my desktop)

I noticed that the power light on the mouse sensor will repeatedly keep blinking on/off on both mouse when connected to any of the USB 2.0 ports, even via my dell monitor.

Yup. I once accidentally plug my keyboard from ps2 to usb (filco keyboards) and I thought I plugged my mouse. Halfway using it just died and never came alive until I found out it was my keyboard usb.

Nope, only GPU.. I tried front panel, back panel and via my dell monitor (which is plugged through the back panel) still persist.. I'm concluding that it's a mobo issue.

After exchanging for a new motherboard the issue still persist..

I did plug out each usb devices except for the mouse and test and yet it still disconnects/reconnects.. Corbell did their testing and said there isn't any problem from their side.. Any idea what it could be?

You have tested the mouse and its working fine somewhere else. Mobo tested. The only thing left is the chassis front panel. Do not know if the chassis front panel usb2.0 port might be faulty and shorted causing usb problem invyour mobo. Isolate front panal usb port. Unplug both usb2.0 and usb3.0 connectors from mobo. Isolate the bunch of front panel cables (power sw, HD Led etc) if you want to.

I did isolate the front usb port and it's still not working. After getting a new mouse, I bought a PCI-e to USB card just to be safe and it's working flawlessly w/o any problems on the new card.
