High pitched squealing sound! Hurricaneboi May 28th, 08, 09:06 PM #1 (permalink)
I've been getting this sound from my case for a few days now...could it be my HDD??

the sound is accompanied by random very short beeps.

Hmm i used to get that sound from my mobo.. And i was thinking what the hell was wrong with it.. Until i found out that the power supply connector to my gfx wasnt connected.. Thats what made the sound...
But my com wasnt able to boot up due to that.. Ur com can still boot up right?

on only your psu/mobo and integrated gfx if got onboard.
see got sound or not.
no sound?
plug in your gfx card.
no sound?
plug in your hdd 1 by 1.

do a test 1 by one, sure can isolate what's causing the sound.

Pop open the side panel and use your ear to locate? There was once i had this funny 'bzzt' sound. Turns out the graphics card fan cable is brushing against the fan(bba radeon 9600 pro, oh how i missed you, the first power graphics card i owned).

Hi I too have this problem.

I also have a Striker II Formula like you. I thought the sound seemed like it came from the Audio card. Can I take this out safely and boot up without it?

I stopped every fan in the case -- still there.
