Recently i upgraded my rig to a Phenom X3 8450 on a MSI K9A2 CF-F.
The chip is overclocked to 2.52GHz up from 2.1GHz (which is stock) on stock voltage and my rams are running at 800MHz up from 667MHz (which is stock). i also changed my PSU from a 400w one to a Verudium PowerXT 485w. So to say all the power components are okay. I have a ThermalTake MaxOrb which doesn't hit 50c on P95 load. So i suppose heat isn't an issue.
Details on my OC;
FSB: 240
Multiplier: 10.5x (2.52GHz up from 2.1GHz)
HT: 13x
Memory Divider: 1:1/66
Memory Speed: 800MHZ (up from 667MHz)
All these settings on stock voltage.
Then it comes down to the OS, i'm running on Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit. All the drivers are the latest, graphics, audio etc. Tested my chip stability using Prime95 (though i didn't run it for 24hours, but i got it to run for 8 hours without errors.)
Then comes my problem with all the BSoDing. I play WoW, can't play for 30 mins with sound on without BSoDing, then i went to google for WoW related BSoD issues and stumbled across a few threads which recommended turning sound off by the shortcut. It only lengthens the time i stay in the game but doesn't solve the issue. The BSoDing only came after the recent patch 2.4.3. Before that i was playing on 2.4.2 and there were no such problems.
Second to that is my Skype. Even when i'm not playing WoW, i skype with my friend and play other games like Race 07 or something else. It also causes BSoD. I don't know about others but back then when i was using Windows XP and playing WoW on private server, dialing my friend on skype with WoW running will instantly cause the BSoD (when i click the green dial button). So i have a bad history between WoW and Skype.
So my rig is windows stable, supposedly prime stable. Anyone got any idea on how to solve the issue?
