Very Weird internet problem, unsure source of problem. LeonFznF Jul 24th, 08, 03:12 PM #1 (permalink)
Situation goes:
Using the white Mio at home, the one with 10mbps plan.
3 Computers, all connect through lan wire.

So lets assume the computers are named 1, 2 and 3.

1 is the one where the router is configured at.
The other computers 2 and 3 are simply just using lan. (more specifically, 2 is a laptop)

*We can ignore computer 3 for the time being as the problem revolves around 1 & 2*

_____________________________________

A week back, com1 has problems surfing sites, some like yahoo answers or youtube(just a few to name). Working ones are HOMEPAGE of google and thats all.

Got irritated and rung up singnet. They did ping check and stated that nothing is wrong. I was asked to clear cookies and the such, anything that 'could' help the internet to get going, but none helped. Now singnet claims it is a problem with either the browser(both firefox and IE doesn't work) or the computer itself. Note at this point of time, the other two com internet still works(com 2 and 3)

Now, weird part comes in where, just this morning before leaving for school, the internet on com1 has returned to normal, and it becomes com2(the laptop) to have that exact same problem.

Didn't have the time to troubleshoot the router so left for school.

Now posting from school, which I use my laptop for, is STILL not working, except for local sites(Now that I think back, only local sites worked when this problem started, even on com1), that's why I could post in vrz.

*edited* msn and torrents still works perfectly fine.
Laptop tried using lan/wireless, doesn't work. just saying.
____

sorry I ain't very good at these stuff but worked out a few stuff

-It cant be lan port spoil cus the problem seems to 'jump' from one com to another.

-Not router problem as even the schools internet doesn't work.

-Browser problem? Maybe not as com3 is still working fine.

any suggestions? thanks~

Just to have a clearer picture.
So you have 3 PC all connect to a router which was connected to a modem. Or 2 PC connected to PC1 which was configured as a DHCP server/gateway/router and connected to a modem?

xtimx > alright thanks~

Goondoo > sorry that I can only answer to my knowledge. From what I know, Mio = Router + modem in one. Let's see, from the back of the router, it's all just one power plug and 3 lan wires out to each PC and 'telephone' plug and a 'phone line' plug. So it will be '3 PC all connect to a router which was connected to a modem' like you mentioned.

does it help?
