Building a CPU for Gaming russglenn Sep 18th, 08, 11:40 PM #1 (permalink)
Hi guys. i;m rather clueless about the building a custom CPU. well i got a monitor and stuff but i just need a new CPU for my standard gaming.
i wanna get advise from you guys. dont wanna get "conned" by those people at simlim.

Been playing WoW with my current com. but my system has to be set to min so it can actually run. smooth. with ocassional spikings and stuff.

now i moved on to Warhammer Online. sadly the system requirements are much higher. so i plan to get a new CPU. time for an upgrade.

the system requirements for my new game are:

For Windows XP

* 2.5 GHz P4 (single core) processor or equivalent
* 1 Gigabyte RAM
* A 128 MB Video Card, with support for Pixel Shader 2.0
* At least 15 GB of hard drive space

For Windows VISTA

* 2.5 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
* 2 Gigabyte RAM
* A 128 MB Video Card, with support for Pixel Shader 2.0
* At least 15 GB of hard drive space

Supported Video Cards
ATI Radeon(TM) series

* 9500, 9600, 9800
* X300, X600, X700, X800, X850
* X1300, X1600, X1800, X1900, X1950
* 2400, 2600, 2900
* 3650, 3850, 3870
* 4850, 4870

NVIDIA GeForce series

* FX 5900, FX 5950
* 6600, 6800
* 7600, 7800, 7900, 7950
* 8400, 8500, 8600, 8800
* 9400, 9500, 9600, 9800
* GTX 260, GTX 280

I got my Windows XP so prob gonna use it. dont like vista.. it may be demanding but i hope to get this CPU cheap. lets say Under $500?
thanks hope to hear from you soon

Can try this:

Palit N73PV with Intel E5200 $198
Crucial DDR2 800 2x1GB $56
XV 9600GT $149
WD 250GB 16MB HD $75
LG 22X SATA DVD-Writer $38
Vantec ION2+ 500W PSU $75
Cooler Master RC-335 Elite Casing $58

Total: $649

Over budget by $149 but quite worthwhile i think. 9600GT should be more than enough for WOW at decent settings. Prices from videopro website. U might wanna check at sim lim. Prices might have changed.
ASUS P5K with Intel C2D E6600
Corsair Dominator PC-8500 2x1GB
XFX GeForce 8800GTS 320MB
WD Caviar 160GB 8MB
Sony AW-G170S & Samsung SH-S183A SATA DVD-Writer
Andyson Silent series G480 PSU
Lian-Li PC007B
Windows XP Pro SP3
