Is it better to go for a 4830 x-fire setup? I just got this idea for my next rig. After went through some review, i found that this setup is better than a 4870, in between of GTX260 OC and GTX280. Price will be $318 ($159 each). If budget allows, a 4850 x-fire ($400+) will be even better. How do you think?

Is it ok to go a bit further to p2x4 810?
Not really - if you want to go quad go for either 920 or 940BE else stick to X3 720BE

I favour single GPU set ups actually as IMO only 1920 x 1200 high/ultra high warrants a crossfire/sli set up so i would go with a HD4870, GTX 260, GTX 285 or wait on the new HD 4890/GTX 275

Hi
i am new to DIY pc, so i am curious abt the diff between red and green camp. I read some articles saying that AMD is more power consuming. Is it true? Cause i am going to get a rig during june just before my uni starts.
As I am studying Electrical Electronic Engineering, I think that rig requires more processing power. In addition, i do some light gaming. Am not really sure what type to get. Was looking at the HTPC and light gaming rig proposed by batchuka
Cheers

Well depending on the chip picked out and architecture, you may pick out a more power consuming chip either AMD/Intel so if it matters, pic one that has the horsepower u need but yet not so much a power guzzler Hmm for your case actually i would think budget, LCD/resolution and if you need rig to be portable would be the key
