Help, cannot restore from restore partition on MSI X340 Shigure Jun 14th, 09, 08:52 AM #1 (permalink)
Hi all,

I just got a MSI X340 recently but due to some problem (my itchy finger) i go and mess around with the OS... Am intending to do a dual boot for WinXP as I will need it for work.

Now the problem is i can't access the window Vista partition, neither can i do a recovery through the restore partition. Nothing came out after I press F3.

Can anyone help me? or can i send back to the distributor to get it restore?

Thanks in advance

Most probably you corrupted the bootloader which is necessary to load the recovery partition, since you mention you were trying to dual-boot.

Anyway most likely you need to send back to Corbell or if you are savvy enough you can just use a Vista DVD to reinstall using the key on the COA.

Some advice:
1) If you want to dual-boot, the easiest method is to install XP 1st then Vista, otherwise it is more tedious as you will need to tinker with the bootloader later on.

2) Always create recovery media as the recovery partition is not always fool-proof, as your case has proven.

Go back to corbell and ask them to help you restore if you don't have the recovery disc.
