Hey everyone...
Could you please recommend me the simplest and cheapest way to retrieve data from my pc internal 3.5" HDD to my laptop as my pc cannot even bootup at the moment...

hmm... easiest way is to get those usb to Sata convertor lo... but remember to always put your harddisk properly and dun hook the power cable.

You can buy those converters that turns both sata and ide into usb.
They are widely available in SLS.
$50?

ya, docking stations, now darn cheap... esata/usb version only 50.

next thing is you need to remove the windows password lock folder to view whats in the [my documents] etc... those are not viewable from another computer esp if they are password protected... however, there is ways to crack it.

Thanks for the advices but $50 still feels kind of expensive for something temporary before I get my new pc in a few months

Any other cheaper options ?

Hook up a DVDRW and burn out 4.x GB at a time, transfer, erase and burn again? If have spare DVDRW disc = free else like $3?

Get another pc, a network and ur laptop.

Connect the harddisk to another pc, using IDE/SATA, then transfer to ur laptop through network.

hmm.. ok let me clear up something first.. I just need to access everyday some data from my harddrive like photos, videos, softwares etc.. And my laptop doesn't have enough space to store them

you can't have everything free unless you borrow from someone else.

the 50 bucks idea is the cheapest already.

TS, please check this. This is your only option. This kit costs ~10 bucks and works like a charm.

I'm using this RIGHT NOW. Screw 50 bucks.

if you can buy abit KN8 ultra means you can buy the usb converter
the have cheap one in ebay
last time i bought in indonesia cost me like 10 or 20 bucks here
or order from senchen
or borrow your friend's converter
