Has anyone tried Vpost?

Hey bros,

I'm interested in getting some stuff from the US but dunno how to use vPOST lah. I've signed up for vPOST liao, but say, for eg, I buy something from US, from an online hardware dealer like newegg or neutronexpress, should I list the address as that given by vPOST? How about payment ah? Any bros who have done this on a regular basis can gimme a step-by-step account of how to go about it? TIA chuay chuay!

eh, if you want to buy from newegg, you must have a USA credit card. I don't think vpost can assist in buying things from newegg. Some clause....i dont really remember.

Thanks for replies, but if I get from a site that delivers and accept local CC, how to go about it ah? I'm looking at neutronexpress, seems that they do do deliveries, even to Sg, but kind of ex dah, so thinking of alternatives...

So why you want to get it from USA if you are saying that it's exp?

buy stuff, check out - put Vpost address as your shipping - billing address as your SG address.
Once item is shipped, email vpost your invoice.

Once item is matched to your invoice, you can pay for your shipping to SG.

vpost has the vconceige service which can order the stuff for you without a us cc

Though I have yet use any of the shipping forwarder, but I did some reading.

pls take note of the volumetric weight.

Most of this forwarder uses volumetric weight or the dead weight of the package which ever is higer. If the box is rather big, you will be in a rude shock of the shipping rate even if the whole package itself weigh very light.

Let's assume if the dead weigh of the package is 2kg and is 30cm x 30cm x 30cm in dimension,
the volumetric weight will be (depending the divider is 5000 or 6000 use by the forwarder)
(30 x 30 x 30)/5000 =5.4kg
(30 x 30 x 30)/6000 = 4.5kg

So it's no longer 2kg that you will be paying.

Though these shipping forwarder may say that you can ask the seller to keep the packaging minimal.

But you will have no way to control these merchants packaging. Some items are packed in large box and there is no way of telling them to minimize the packaging to smaller box.
Some private seller like ebay may or may not agree to pack in smaller box but there is no guarantee.

I once heard of a local buyer who the seller agreed to pack the item in smaller box but in the end it's still a big box. So he/she will have to end up paying a hefty shipping fee to ship to here. In the end she/he decided return the goods to the seller, but he/she still have to pay a high shipping fees to ship back to the seller from the US based forwarder shipping address.

Both Borderlinx and Vpost do not repack the box received from merchant/seller. Comgateway though does help to repack but you have to pay a US$10 to repack one parcel unlike one shipment like they previously did as I read.

So if you buy several items say 4 items, if their box are big and to get comgateway to repack, you have to spend US$40.

Just leave a note with the merchant's CS that you're doing international shipping.
Get them to pack it in the smallest packaging as possible, usually they'll comply unless they're huge like amazon where fulfillment centers are all over the states.

Usually??? So if they don't and had ship to there US forwarder address......

As said above, you have no control to the packaging that the merchants will pack. You may ask them to keep the packaging minimal. But they may or may not comply.

Tell me, which merchants comply to your request to pack smallest packaging as possible. And how small they have packed for you????

depends on how big the company is.
If they're a small merchant, they can control it as its not as automated as it.

If you're wish you can always speak to a CS rep first then place an order and they'll make provision for your request or find out before hand how big is the packaging.
If it doesn't make sense to pay for the shipping then shop for alternatives...its afterall online..

Just have make extra leg work prior to purchase thats all.

hey, for items forwarding outside US,Viaddress is the best . I have been using them since many years. Their rates are much lower thanBongous, Vpost, Borderlinx .
I have had purchased several items online and shipped them to India via viaddress service only and the most important thing is, items are always received in perfect conditions.
