Erm, gonna help my friend with building a decent gaming rig, mainly use for some leisure online gaming. Any suggestion? Budget wise he didn't give me any amount, just as cheap as possible. So i would roughly estimate around $500 - $700

Lookin at quad or c2d system? Either follow ur rig set up or mine for C2D... i find it good enough for gaming. esp when u said leisure gaming.

Most imptly how big is his monitor? 4870 is the new mainstream. 512mb version for 22" below. 1GB for above.
