Toshiba S60 laptop. need help! anyone in the North? stashsg Nov 2nd, 09, 09:28 AM #1 (permalink)
Hi need some help on my S60.

1. did internal cleaning last week. removed the keypad and did some internal cleaning.

now my mouse pad wont work n some buttons on the left hand side of the keyboard wont work too.

2. plan to keep my laptop, (cant afford new one).
should i upgrade my ram? currently 512
should i upgrade my HD? currently 40g
what else should i do?

basic info:
original specs
win xp.

i stay in near admiralty MRT... can anyone near by pls help diagnose my problem?

1. Did u double check the cable connection between mouse pad n mainboard? i suggest u open it again n double confirm again..
2. What is the purpose for ur lappy? only surf net n some works?
I can't find the actual model in google...

hi bro i did check the cables... all in order, i suspect i might have bent a thin flexible cable?

this model is almost 5yrs old... but still very strong and stable.

use it for net, movies and some doc works

then just upgrade the ram and harddisk.. since u not a gamer... if u accidently bent the thin flexible cable may cause the issue.. u go to any laptop refurbished shop in sls ask them able to help u replace that cable or not.....

Go check with Wong (computer shop at the end of the overhead bridge to Admiralty MRT). He may be able to help

yup thanks for the HELP... all is good but temporary.

just a qns? my hard disk is 5 yrs old, should i replace it?

Any shops in sim lim to recommend??? and price expected to pay.

1. replace hard disk
2. transfer data from old HD to new one?
3. any other advise

P.S. My laptop is 5yrs old.

suggest you do your own backup of your data.
hdd drive / rams, ask yrself are you going to use this laptop for sometime?
are the rams worth investing in it?

edit:
you know what hdd/rams are you using?
ddr / ddr2 ? sata / ide?
