Help needed

Recently 3.3 year old acer aspire 5570 having this problem.
1st the laptop will hang while loading program after it load window vista.
2nd Sometime Screen turn black.
3rd i had to restart the whole system. Sometime the laptop is fine sometime i have to repeat step 3(restart) again.

step i tried
1st i try to use what acer serviceman told me to do a esystem recovery by pressing alt f10.
after which the system restore to factory default.
i thought the problem had been solved.

The usual problem came back after i press IE, firefox and etc program.
Problem arise while and task perform hang at this point of time.
i tried to use run>cmd>chkdsk. the program hang after running like 20 sec.

may i ask what problem is that?

i did listen to the mainboard and i heard fans are spinning only.

is it the harddisk going to die?
or is the mainboard going to die?



FYI:
it run on window vista H.p.
120gb hdd
1gb rams
