Using the RAM 1.8v or 2.2v MessboY Nov 5th, 09, 11:19 AM #1 (permalink)
dft004ear all,

I would like to ask I would like to purchase 4pc of 2GB Ram DDR 2 1066. OCZ PC2-8500 Platinum / Kingston Hyper X 1066 Can My mobo support it?

Mobo is Gigabyte P45 - UD3P? and also do I need to adjust any setting bio before using this RAM? As most of the voltage I saw is 2.1v or 2.2 on the RAM But looking at the website at Gigabyte only support 1.8V?

How ? Anyone know ?

Thanks appriacte your help.

there should be an option to change the voltage in your bios overclocking section.
u nid to bump the voltage in order to run it at its rated speed

Thanks to all!

I will change it later when I am back home!

Just to check, Will it be stable? After I change the voltage? or the change the setting to 1066?

I'm not sure about your mobo, but herewith based on my own experiences:
1. Check your mobo's manual, what the max voltage supported.
2. Check your BIOS if there is manual setup to increase the voltage.
3. If possible update your BIOS to the latest one as most of the time the vendor will add support to newer peripheral and to solve compatibility issue.
If your RAM is supported by your mobo, system will automatically detect it and you don't need to setup anything.
4. Check the Web site of the RAM Vendor, normally they have mobo compatibility list.
5. If your mobo is not in the compatibility list, then install one stick RAM on slot#1 first to ensure it can work with your BIOS and to allow you to set the configuration manually.
Later you can continue with next stick installation.
If the BIOS can set the latency, it is great as it can follow the configuration of your RAM for better performance and stability.

Hope it can work and good luck!
