    Stripping The GeForce 8800 Heatspreader

LANParty can get terribly boring if you don't play enough games. Then again, there is nothing which can't pop out of our minds with a PC in reach. Us bunch of bored LANPartyers decided to stay up and laze around in the wee hours of the morning. In the VR junkpile, we found the victim of pre-LANParty's extreme chillout; the NVIDIA 8800GTX which suffered a fatal bite from the dryice we fed it.

    tempting.

Once u strip u cant mount the side metal border thingy. On the stock heatsink the contact is already minimal. cant do it on the stock heat sink else board will warp as the height of the gpu core will be much lower than the rams.

    the core is soooooo huge....

yup that metal border shim would have to be milled down by a mm or so.
hmmz who has a diamond polisher to loan?
