Today VR-Zone brings you a preview of Doom 3 performance using today's most popular graphics cards. In Part one of our three part Doom 3 benchmarking series, we'll be using custom timedemos to give you an idea as to how the different graphics cards currently on the market perform in id Software's brand new game.

2x AA or 4x AA? Charles Aug 3rd, 04, 05:28 AM #2 (permalink)
Awesome work with the benches. I for one found the lower resolution tests with AA on to be far more useful than some other benches I've seen since many people have LCD's with a fixed "optimal" native resolution and must rely on AA to get rid of jaggies.

Question though, the page with all the benchmarks for "4x AA" was labeled "2x AA/8x AF." Which titles are correct, the page title or the individual benchmark graphs.

Reason why I ask is that I'm trying to decide between a GeForce 6800 and a GeForce 6800 GT. All I want is to be able to run Doom 3 at 1280x768/High/2xAA/8xAF.

Any luck?

OMG... that means that the XT PE that i was just planning to order would go to shreads in the hands of a NV40! Perhaps even the GT would perform faster then that!

hmm... should i get BOTH the XT PE and the Ultra? that would mean $$$$$$$$$$$$$$.. but may be worth it as the new games come out that require different equiptment. That's why im still retaining the P4EE rig when i get the FX53. btw the FX53 is faster then the 3800+ right?
