Too many clones causing problems in sales threads lately,

Possible to implement a kind of system which while not showing the full IP address to everybody, marks if two person in the same thread has the same IP, and also marks if a person has an overseas IP or is going through a proxy?

Like that if we see low-post-count members creating a disturbance and they share the same IP as either the TS, another low-post-count member, or a high-post-count hypocrite, we can tell them to GTFO. That should also show their character and hurt their reputation a bit, and serve as a deterrence. So even if some badass clone appears to screw a thread, at least there will only be one.

How about it? Maybe start off by showing last 16 bit of the IP address like what other forums are doing, before going into something more sophisticated?

Clones means 2 different account names logging into forum at the same time or 1 account but 2 ips at the same time logged into forum ?

clones mean 1 person multiple account act as if they don't know each other with one always agreeing what the other said

I'm always very wary of low-post-counts at sales...

High chance will have sumthing happen/got something wrong.

They think clone acc and prepaid mobile can get away with it.

Its impossible to track clones by IP address... As far as i know, all singnet users are automatically given proxy server, so you'll never know their real IP. This is also why sometimes you visit websites and they behave as if you have been there before when you actually have not...

theres a http var called x forwarded for which reveals the IP address of the originating user through a proxy.

Agree with lennardseah, I have been logged the real ip unless it is a public computer, of those who have register on my website and of course, mentioned in privacy's term.

Most of time we dun check the person handphone especially new traders.
I personally kept a excel sheet of all people i traded with along with contact so i'll do a quick search if the person has and bad records with me personally.

Or maybe we can consolidate a list of contact number referencing dispute thread so user can do quick search and read the thread?
